Asia-Europe Workshop Series
Overview
The Asia-Europe Workshop Series offered grants to academic institutions to submit workshop proposals on themes of common interest to both Asia and Europe. Our interest was in workshops that focus on contemporary issues of multilateral importance.
From 2002 to 2010, the programme supported 48 workshops, offering a contribution of €12,500 to each of the selected conveners in Asia and Europe. Topics covered at the workshops included:
- Social Security
- Demography
- Environment and Sustainable Development
- Gender Issues
- Labour Relations
Six workshops were selected annually and were jointly organised by an Asian and European institute. Workshops usually spanned two to three days. The programme was discontinued in 2010 following 8 successful years of Workshops involving over 100 partner organisations.
